The Supreme Court has refused to issue an immediate interim order for the writ petition filed against the cabinet expansion.
A single bench of Judge Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada has issued a show-cause order on June 8, 2021, and ordered to call both sides on June 22 saying that discussions should be held before the interim order.
After the expansion of the Cabinet by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Senior Advocate Dr. Dinesh Tripathi, Advocate Kanchan Krishna Neupane along with other advocates had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding to dismiss the expansion.
The writ petition states that the expansion of the Council of Ministers, which allows the “temporary” government to do only the most urgent work, is not an urgent task.
On June 4, Prime Minister Oli had restructured the cabinet with the participation of the People Socialist Party’s Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato in the government.
