Provincial MP Accused of Beating UML Cadre

Indravati Rural Municipality-5 Badegaon resident Indravati Melamchi Social Upliftment Program Organising Committee Chairperson and CPN-UML District Committee Member Bishnu Mani Acharya, 47, and Ashok Koirala, a resident of Indravati Rural Municipality-6 and an employee of the same committee were beaten by Yuvraj Dulal, Member of Bagmati Provincial Assembly, Former Minister for Social Development and Politburo Member of CPN-Maoist Centre on April 6, 2021.

The Indravati Melamchi Social Upliftment Program Organising Committee had held a program to hand over an ambulance to the Local Small Agricultural Cooperative in Indravati Municipality-5.

The organizers had asked Bangshalal Tamang, the chairperson of the Rural Municipality to hand over the key of ana ambulance to the ward chairperson instead of the chief guest of the event, MP Dulal to do it. Therefore, Dulal had beaten them in the rage of the situation.

Ashok Koirala, who was injured in the beating, was taken to Kathmandu for treatment. According to Acharya, Koirala had eye injuries.

CPN-UML Indravati Rural Municipality Coordinator Shashinath Acharya has issued a statement on April 6 demanding an impartial investigation into the incident and stern action against the accused.

MP Dulal said that he had not beaten anyone but the organisers had insulted him at the program.
