Umakanta Chaudhary, 49, of Agnisair Krishna Savaran rural municipality-1, Ghoghindaha, Bhawanipur, has returned home after 20 months of treatment on the initiative of INSEC.

Chaudhary was rescued by the Human Services Ashram on December 8 after the news was published on the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Online on December 7, 2018.

According to the victim’s family, Chaudhary, a psychosocial patient, was chained since 2006 after he became more violent.
The INSEC representative had taken the initiative after Chaudhary’s wife Sushila and a local Anil Chaudhary sought help for rescue and treatment.

Homnath Timalsina, treasurer of the Human Services Ashram, contacted INSEC Saptari representative after receiving information about the incident.

A team comprising Secretary of the Ashram Sunam Badtaula, Engineer Nawaraj KC, Santa Lama took Chaudhary away on November 8, 2008. INSEC provincial coordinator Raju Paswan, INSEC Saptari representative Manohar Kumar Pokhrel and RSS representative Nanimaiya Katwal were also present during the rescue.

Chaudhary, who recovered after regular treatment by a team of psychiatrists, has been reunited with his family after 20 months.

The villagers, who were scared to face the psycho-social patient Chaudhary, had come to welcome Chaudhary, who had returned healthy after 20 months.

People’s representatives and locals also honoured Chaudhary. On the occasion, the INSEC representative provided Rs. 10,000 to the Ashram which has been supporting and taking care of the psychosocial patients.
