Doctor Alleged For Baby’s Death Due To Negligence, INSEC Urged For Justice

The family of Antima Bhagat Mali, 22, of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan-7, Bariya, urged INSEC on August 28 to take initiative for justice, alleging that their baby died due to the negligence of the doctor.

Mali’s wife was admitted to the maternity ward of Kalaiya Hospital at 1 pm on August 21 for delivery.

The patient was taken to the emergency ward for her delivery. The victim family has blamed Dr Anjali Chaurasiya for not attending the patient and staying in the staff quarter even when she was called for four times.

They had filed a complaint at the District Administration Office on August 23 but no action was taken against the hospital and the doctor.

The family of the victim has urged INSEC District Representative to take initiative for justice as no action has been taken against the medical superintendent, doctors and staff of the hospital for the negligence of the staff.

The victim’s family also alleged that the doctors of the hospital used obscene language and neglected the treatment.

According to Chief District Officer Rudra Prasad Pandit, Murari Karki, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, had sent a letter to the District Police Office to take necessary action but that did not happen because of which INSEC was approached for help, informed Shubhash Bhagat Mali.

Article 52 of paragraph 8 of the Nepal Health Services Act 2053 states that the employee must be present regularly at the office within the time stipulated by the Government of Nepal and should not be absent from work without prior approval of leave. But the victim family has blamed that the rule was not followed.

Similarly, in sub-section 1 of section 53, it is said that the employees should be disciplined and perform their duties with sincerity and readiness.

The victim has demanded to take action as per the provision of dismissal or dismissal of the employee if he/she acts negligently or maliciously in Article 74 (a).
