Street Child Rescued From INSEC’s Initiative

An 11-year-old boy has been rescued on August 25 after the initiative of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Dang.

The boy, who belongs to Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan-12, had been living on the streets of Ghorahi Bazaar for the past six years. He has been kept in the Shanti Children’s Home for the time being with the help of Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan.

INSEC representative Jaya Narayan Pun, in coordination with the District Child Rights Committee, Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan and the District Police Office, immediately placed the child in the Shanti Children’s Home. The Director of Shanti Children’s Home, Dr Bholanath said the child will be rehabilitated immediately after his family is found. He has been sent to the children’s home in the presence of Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan Police, a representative of Ghorahi Ward Police Office and a journalist.

Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan Deputy Mayor Sita Sigdel Neupane expressed her commitment to hand over the child to the family in a few days. The boy said that his step-mother had beaten him after his mother’s death and that he had left home six years ago.
