Memorandum to Ratify Rome Statute of the International Court

On the occasion of World Day for International Justice, it is demanded to ratify Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Collecting the signatures from Gandaki Province’s districts, memorandum handed over to government via Chief District Officers.

Kaski district representative Sushan Ghimire informs that, via Chief district Officer Chakrabahadur Budha, memorandum sent to Prime Minister on 17th July 2019 to ratify Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Various organization’s coordinators and representatives signed paper handed jointly. During the program, INSEC Gandaki Province Coordinator Shiva Khakurel highlighted the objective of memorandum having to say that nation should ratify Rome Statute to ensure human rights respectfully.

As Gorkha district Representative Hariram Uprety informs, memorandum has been sent to Prime Minister on 17th July to ratify the Rome Statute. After receiving it, Chief District Officer of Gorkha District Devendra Lamichhane extended his commitment to send memorandum letter to Prime Minister and to Council of Ministers.

Myagdi district Representative Amrit Baskune informs, INSEC Myagdi led campaign to send memorandum to Prime Minister via Chief District Officer Liladhar Adhikari has been organized on 17th July 2019.

Receiving Memorandum Baglung’s Chief District Officer Luk Bahadur Kshetry has said that to protect and promote human rights Rome Statute is must to ratify. On 17th July, Memorandum to Prime Minister via CDO was sent by INSEC Baglung. It is notified by Baglung District Representative Sirjana Panta.

INSEC Tanahun and Watch Group submitted Memorandum to Tanahun’s Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court. Receiving the letter Chief District Officer extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office. It is notified by Tanahun District Representative Prakashchandra Bhattarai.

INSEC Lamjung submitted memorandum letter to Lamjung’s Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court. Receiving the letter Chief District Officer Dr. Dijan Bhattarai extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office. It is notified by Lamjung District Representative Dal Bahadur Majakoti.

Surkhet District Representative Durga Bahadur Thapa informs that, on the occasion of World Day for International Justice ‘Victim’s Access to Justice and Roles of Stake Holders’ entitled interaction program has been accomplished jointly by INSEC Karnali province Office, Sundar Nepal and Samaj Jagaran Kendra Nepal, on 17th July, 2019. Advocate Gita Koirala has presented a discussion paper ‘Rome Statute in Nepali Context’ in the program.

INSEC Far West Province Office Dhangadi has organized ‘Necessity to Ratify Rome Statute’ entitled interaction on the occasion of International Justice Day on 17th July, 2019. It is notified by Kailali District Representative Mainamoti Chaudhary.

As District Representative JN Sagar informs that Human Rights Activists team submitted Memorandum to Dang’s Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Receiving the letter Chief District Officer Govinda Prasad Rijal extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office saying that to ratify Rome Statute nation is responsible to formulate required policy and mechanism.

Nawalparasi (West) District Representative Narayan parajuli informs that INSEC along with other human right organizations submitted Memorandum Letter to Premier Office via Chief District Officer Sambhuprasad Marashini.

Chief District Officer of kapilbastu district Gajendra Bahadur Shretsha has said that he is committed to ensure international treaties are implemented. Receiving the Memorandum from INSEC led campaign he said to send the letter to Prime Minister Office on 17th July, 2019. It is notified by District Representative Nandaram Poudel.

Palpa Dsitict Representative Yagyamurti Timilsina informs that, INSEC Province Office Coordinator Raju Paswan led team has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Chief District Officer Pradipraj Kandel extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office.

District Representative of Saptari Manohar Pokhrel informs that INSEC along with other human right organizations, Lawyers, NGOs worker and journalists submitted Memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli through Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel. Who later informed to INSEC that letter has been sent via email to premier office.

District Representative of Siraha Durga Pariyar informs that INSEC along with other human right activists submitted Memorandum to ratify Rome Statute to Prime Minister through Area Administration Office Lahan on 17th July, 2019.

Mahottari Dsitict Representative Ajay Kumar Shah informs that, INSEC led team has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Area Administration Office to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019.

Parsha Dsitict Representative Kesi Lamichhane informs that, INSEC Parsha and HR Watch Group has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office.

Bara District Representative Bholanath Poudel informs that, INSEC Bara led team has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Chief District Officer Rajesh Poudel extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office.

Sarlahi Dsitict Representative Budhan Shah informs that Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019 has been sent.

Parbat Dsitict Representative Santosh Thapa informs that, INSEC Parbat led human rights activist team has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Chief District Officer Kalpana Ghimire extended her commitment to send the letter to Premier office.

Syangja Dsitict Representative Himalal Parajuli informs that, INSEC Syangja led human rights activist team has submitted Memorandum to Premier office via Chief District Officer to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on 17th July 2019. Chief District Officer Koshahari Niraula extended his commitment to send the letter to Premier office.

Banke Dsitict Representative Smriti Devkota informs that, INSEC Province 5 office Nepalgunj and High Court Bar Association jointly organized ‘International Criminal Court Rome Statute’s Relevance in Nepal’ entitled interaction on 17th July 2019. Participants of the program focused their discussion on the necessity to ratify Rome Statute to protect and promote human rights.

INSEC Province Coordinator Bhola Mahat has said that it is much more needed to ratify Rome Statute to avoid the repetition of previous incidents against human rights and also to ensure justice to victims.

Rome Statute bill was passed to establish International Criminal Justice. Remembering the day it is celebrating all over the world. 122 nations have ratified Rome Statute.

Through Memorandum Letter Prime Minister is reminded that re-institutionalized parliament already commanded to ratify Rome Statute of International Criminal Court on July 25, 2006. And it was passed with full votes.

Foreign Affair Minister of 2009’s Upendra Yadav has proposed the agenda in Council of Ministers to ratify Rome Statute on February 11.
