The senior citizens of Ilam are deprived of social security allowances due to the lack of information that they have to renew their bank account every year.
Vice-mayor Sushila Nembang of Ilam Municipality said that the amount of Rs 15,00,000 allocated for this quarter for social security allowance could not be spent.
The social security allowance is distributed to the senior citizens through the bank account however the account must be renewed every year. However, they do not know that the account must be renewed every year due to the lack of information.
According to the vice-mayor Nembang, about 80 senior citizens are deprived of such allowances.
