Kamlharis of Dang have celebrated the fifth Kamlhari freedom day on June 27 by organizing mourning assembly.
Ashmita Chaudhary, 11, a Kamlhari from Bardiya died suspiciously and they have been demanding for the fair investigation on the killing according to Chairperson Sunita Chaudhary of free Kamlhari development forum.
A rally has been organized against the exploitation and sexual abuses on Kamlhari and even killing in some cases. The rally started from the office of Ghorahi sub-metropolis and converted into mourning assembly after reaching District Police Office.
During the assembly, Kamlhari demanded government to work so that they can feel the change. They have demanded for the severe action against those involved in crime against Kamlhari. There are at least 5,000Kamlharis in Dang alone according to data.
