The flood victims of Surkhet are still compelled to live in a camp of Women Training Center at Girighat Khola and Birendra Nagar even after four years from the devastation.
There are 146 flood victims still living at former Kunathari VDC Girighat Camp and 96 families at Women Training Center camp.
Under the section 3 of Fundamental rights act 37 of the constitution states the provision of right to shelter however, the state has failed to provide them the basic fundamental rights.
Due to the severe weather condition, senior citizens, children and infants are living a pathetic lives under the camp.
Most of the children are suffering from flu, fever, headache and other ailment due to the severe condition that they are facing.
Spokes person of Karnali Province and Agriculture, land and cooperative minister Bimala KC said that the provincial government is preparing to bring necessary policies to for the proper management of flood victims and landless.
The devastating flood in 2014, August 10 after the incessant rainfall had affected 2,327 families from Birendra Nagar Municipality, Latikoili, Uttarganga, Tatapani, Ghatgaun, Kumathari and Lekhparajul.
