Ward offices lacking secretary, citizens facing difficulty

In Gulmi, out of 93 wards under the local levels, 43 of them do not have secretary despite of 15 months of implementation of local level. This has created difficulties among citizens and local representatives.

Because of the lack of secretary, the ward operation and daily activities have been affected creating difficulties on office management and providing services according to local representatives.

Majority of staffs have been managed from the district itself however there are lack of employees in local level according to chief Laxman Parajuli of District Coordination Committee.

According to chief administrative officer Krishna Prasad Bhandary of Rural Municipality, two ward secretary are working for eight ward offices. He added that the ward is not facing shortage in secretary but also of employees.

In some places, one secretary is looking after three ward creating difficulties on managing its operation.
