The inmates and detainees in the District Prison of Tehrathum are facing space problem due to the lack of space. The prison has a capacity to accommodate 25 male and 10 female inmates and detainees however there are 95 inmates and detainees in the prison creating health and other issues according to prison guard Jitendra Karki.
The prison building is in dilapidated condition and the administration is facing management issues due to the overcrowd according to jailer Umesh Ghimire.
The prison administration has been raising the issue with District administration office and prison department however the issue remains same.
Inmates and detainees are facing problem of eating, sleeping, health checkup, electricity and even drinking water. Due to the overcapacity, inmates are facing difficulties on going to toilet.
