The District Court of Ilam has ordered to sentence 33 years old Prem Binod Shah of Suryadaya Municipality-10 and his second wife Bhagwati Karki for one year each on charge of polygamy. They were remanded in custody.
A single bench of district court judge Indra Kumar Chongteli had given a verdict on January 7. The accused were also penalized for Rs 10,000 each.
The victim’s first wife had lodged a complaint against the accused at Area Police Office of Pashupati Nagar on July 23 on charge of marrying second woman on July 20.
