Chairperson of Thawang Rural Municipality, Bir Bahadur Gharti,45 alias “Biyog” has been abducted by an unidentified group on the night of September 14.
He was abducted from the road in Koichabang on the night while returning home after managing the preparation of village assembly in Thawang Rural Municipality according to DSP Birendra Thapa of District Police Office.
Chief District Officer Dr Dijan Bhattarai said that police and armed police along with investigation team has been mobilized in search for him.
A team led by DSP Thapa has already reached Thawang on September 15. The reason behind the abduction is still unknown.
Maoist center chairperson and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is scheduled to address the assembly in Thawang. Police said that he might have abducted to affect the program in Thawang RM.
