The District Court of Khotang has ordered to sentence 51 years old Tika Ram Damai of Ratanchha rural municipality (RM)-3 for 10 year after finding him guilty on raping 50 years old woman. The accused had raped the woman on February 20. The court has also penalized him for Rs 100,000.
A single bench of District Court judge Shanti Prasad Acharya had given a verdict regarding the case . The case against him was lodged at District Court of Khotang on February 26 and was remanded in custody by the court order since then.
The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused on a same day at District Police Office of Khotang for rape. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim the accused was arrested by the police. The victim underwent a health checkup at District Hospital on February 23 according to the police.
