Mahottari has been hardly hit by the flood. At least 10 police unit have been drown by the flood. The water level has been raised by up to four feet. According to SP Kuber Kadayat of District Police Office of Mahottari, district headquarter of Jaleshwor has been severely affected due to the raise of water in Ratu Khola because of incessant rain.
The flood in Ratu River has damaged 300 meters long barrage at Kishan Nagar in Bardibas Municipaloty-6. The agriculture land is being swept away according to local Tek Bahadur Shrestha.
Most of the roads have been damaged by the flood and police are not being able to enter into the village. Transportation has been disrupted between one unit of police to another.
The western route of transportation has been disrupted after the flood has destroyed Rato bridge linking Mahottari and Dhanusha under east-western highway. Kholesi Bridge, vehicles coming from west is stranded in Sarlahi Jungle and vehicles coming from eastern part are halted at Lalgadh of Dhanusha. Thousands of commuters have been stranded due to the flood.
B.P Highway is obstructed after the landslide in three different places in Bardibas Municipality. The communication has been disrupted between Jaleshwor, Janakpur, Bardibas, Matihani after the road has been obstructed by the rise in water level up to 10 feet.
The bridge support in the western part has been swept away by the flood. Bridge support of Jangaha river has also been swept away.
The flood has severely affected majority of the roads and transportation has been completely halted and locals are facing crisis on purchasing daily consuming goods.
