The stake holders participated in an interaction program held on November 20 on the occasion of International Children Day have shown their concern over the increase in child marriage in the district.
Speaking at the program, officer Manbir Oli of District Children welfare committee have made a data public showing that there are 57% child marriage is prevailing in the district.
This figure has increased every year which is the concern for the stakeholders. They are even suspicious on the campaign against the child marriage.
The maximum number of child marriage is in Gotamkot VDC. Oli said that only in this VDC, there are 72% of child marriages.
Pushpa Rijal, chief of District Children and Women Office said that stopping the child marriage has become a great challenge for the stakeholders.
Such increment in child marriage has a long term effect in the society according to CDO Banshi Kumar Acharya of Rukum.
