The Supreme Court has ordered the police to investigate against former Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha, who helped release a house-owner accused of not renting her house due to caste discrimination.
The order was issued by a bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut and Nahakul Subedi on July 15, 2021, in response to a petition filed by Sunar against former minister Shrestha and others.
The petition filed by the Rupa against Saraswati Pradhan is under investigation and it was seen clearly that Krishna Gopal Shrestha, who was in the public position of Minister when Saraswati Pradhan was released from custody, was present and he had escorted her from the custody in the Minister’s official vehicle. As the petition filed against Krishna Gopal Shrestha has not been registered properly, the petition should be registered and an impartial and effective investigation should be carried out.
Rupa has mentioned in her petition that the police pressurized her to submit her phone following which the Supreme Court has informed that they might take the audio of the telephone conversation between Rupa and the house-owner if necessary during the investigation.
