District Court of Salyan has sentenced a 38-year-old brother-in-law to 11 years’ jail term and fined him NRs 40,000 for raping a 40-year-old woman.
According to Inspector Arjun Poudel of the District Police Office, Salyan, the accused had raped the victim on August 4, 2020, with an excuse of traditional healing and he was arrested on August 13, 2020, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
Shrestedar Hemant Gyawali told INSEC that the bench of Justice Kul Prasad Pandey gave the verdict on July 13, 2021, after proving him guilty.
The victim was examined at the Health Service Office, Salyan on August 13, 2020, said Dasharath Shrestha, Chief of the Health Service Office, Salyan.
