Ninety-six Victims of Human Rights Violations and Abuses In a Month

INSEC has documented 96 victims of human rights violations and abuses including 57 women and 39 men in the month of April.

In the monthly analysis for the month of April, INSEC has stated that 96 people have been affected by various incidents and four physical structures have been damaged.

According to the published report, Bagmati had the highest number of victims which is 23, while Sudur Paschim had the lowest number which is four. There were 22 victims in Province 2, 13 in Gandaki, 12 in Province 1 and Karnali, and 10 in Lumbini. Two people have died in prison in April. It is documented that a teacher was killed during the same period.

According to the news published in April, 40 victims of child rights violations have been reported. Similarly, 12 people became victims of women’s rights violations.

According to the analysis, during this period, four women were killed by their family members and one woman was killed after rape.

According to the report, two journalists were arrested by the police, there were four victims each in incidents of beating and misbehaviour, three of threatening, two of inhumane behaviour and 11 were injured in the clash.

It mentioned- four incidents of damage to physical infrastructure also came to light during this period. News of the death of one woman and seven men due to lack of treatment was published in April. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of cases of lack of treatment in hospitals has increased.

The number of Covid infections has hiked in April. Infection that has been declining for some time has increased again. In a period of one month, 158,094 people were infected.

During this period, 47,551 swabs were tested. The number of those who recovered was 53,206, while another 1,608 people died. Statistics show an increase in the number of women infected in a month.
