Hundreds of Beneficiaries Suffering Due to Lack of a Health Worker

Hundreds of beneficiaries visiting Dhaulagiri Hospital are facing problems due to the lack of a radiologist and video x-ray machine operator.

As the radiologist of the hospital has been doing video X-ray in private health institutions as well, all the video X-ray services in the district headquarters have been affected.

At the district hospital, there is a regular flow of at least 50 to 60 people who need the x-ray service and not having a health worker is affecting their right to health.

A pregnant woman from Kundule of Baglung Municipality-4 had reached Dhaulagiri Hospital for regular check-ups amidst the pandemic and during the check-up, she was suggested to do a video X-ray but she couldn’t do it due to the absence of the health worker.

The only radiologist hired by the Gandaki Provincial Ministry of Social Development was doing video X-ray at Dhaulagiri Hospital, Baglung, and his absence created problems.

However, later he resigned through email and the situation became chaotic.

Dr. Shailendra B Pokharel, chief of the hospital informed that there was no immediate solution to the problem even though the provincial ministry was informed that hundreds of patients were affected daily due to the lack of a single radiologist in the hospital.
