The District Court of Illam has declared 18 years’ imprisonment to Tej Bahadur Rai (36) of Mai municipality-7 for raping a 13-year-old girl.
The trial bench of judge Harish Chandra Ingnam declared the accused of being guilty for the act on 28 June 2020 and also charged compensation of rs 50 thousand, informed Shrestedar Dil Kumar Bardewa to INSEC’s representative in a phone conversation.
The same day, the guilty was ordered to pay two thousand rupees for victim relief fund.
The victim was raped on 18 December 2019 and the complaint was filed against the accused on the same day at District Police Office.
The accused was arrested on 19 December 2019 and further action was taken. The accused was taken under judicial custody on 18 January 2020.
A health checkup of the victim was conducted on 18 December 2019.
