Ganga Maya Adhikari has started a hunger strike on December 21. Adhikari has resumed her hunger strike demanding action against those involved in the murder of her youngest son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, who was killed in the armed conflict.
Adhikari started the strike on the seventh floor of the Trauma Center in Kathmandu, she said that she has not received justice despite repeated assurances.
“Justice is needed, not false assurances,” Adhikari said. “It is better to die than to suffer without justice! I will die on hunger strike. I will not break the fast until I get justice. ‘
This is her 12th hunger strike. Previously, she used to break her strike after being assured of justice.
Krishna Prasad Adhikari, 18, of Fujel VDC-7, the youngest son of Nanda Prasad and Ganga Maya Adhikari, was abducted by the then CPN-Maoist cadres from Bakulahar in Chitwan District on June 6, 2004. Four hours later, he was brought to the same place in the evening and brutally tortured, and was shot on the head.
Nanda Prasad, Gangamaya’s husband, died on September 22, 2014, after nearly a year of staging a fast-unto-death.
