Police arrested Bir Bahadur Kunwar, 32, from the Butwal bus park on November 16 on the charge of killing his wife Melina Pariyar,20. Melina, originally from Raskot, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-6, Baglung, had been working at Hotel Lumbini Gate located at Lumbini Gate, Siddharthanagar Municipality-8.
During an argument between the husband and wife on the night of November 13, the Kunwar, under the influence of alcohol, strangled Melina to death and fled. He had killed his wife in the staff room of the hotel where she worked. Police found him hiding at the Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-9 bus park and arrested him.
The victim’s family filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 14 November regarding the incident. The post-mortem was conducted on 15 November at Bhim Hospital, Bhairahawa, after which the body was handed over to the victim’s family, according to DSP Suraj Khadka of the District Police Office.
