Police arrested Bibin Narayan Chaudhary,30 from Sundarharaicha Municipality-4, Morang, an inmate who had escaped from Jhumka Jail during the Gen-Z protest. He was arrested at his home on November 22. SP Kabita Katwal of the District Police Office, Morang stated that Chaudhary had been serving a 25-year jail sentence for a killing case and had escaped from Jhumka Jail on September 9 during the protest.
The Jhumka Jail with a capacity of 1,600 inmates was holding 1,799 inmates during the Gen-Z protest. On September 9, during the protest, 1,572 inmates escaped from the jail. Among those who had escaped, 1,022 inmates had been arrested or returned to jail by November 23, according to Jailer Subash Lamichhane. He added that 550 escapees are still yet to be brought back to the jail.
