During the movement on September 9, two inmates who had escaped from Tanahun Jail, Damauli, were arrested by police in Lamjung.
Santosh Gurung, 39, of Susta Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi, and Binod Gurung, 45, of Ranikuwa, Besisahar Municipality–3, were arrested and handed over to the respective authorities. Santosh was serving a sentence in a theft case, while Binod was convicted in a rape case.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Resham Bohara, chief of the Lamjung District Police Office, both detainees were sent back to Tanahun after completing the necessary legal procedures.
So far, Lamjung Police has arrested 45 escapees and returned them to the respective jails.
