A total of 94 inmates who escaped from Tanahun Jail during the movement are still at large. According to the details made public by the Department of Jail Management, Jail Chief Tirtha Bhattarai stated that all 94 inmates from Tanahun Jail remain out of contact.
During the movement on the evening of September 8, 327 inmates had escaped from Tanahun Jail. Among them, some later returned voluntarily, while others were arrested by the police.
Among the fugitives, most are involved in serious criminal cases. Of them, 30 are related to rape cases, 26 to drug-related offenses, and 10 to killing cases, according to Bhattarai. Apart from these, some are involved in theft, attempted murder, and other cases.
The Department of Jail Management has stated that any individual found hiding, sheltering, or providing assistance to the fugitives will be considered an offender and will face legal action under prevailing laws.
