293 Escapees from Kaski Jail are Still at Large

During the Gen-Z movement, following an attack on Kaski Jail, 293 inmates remain at large. According to Jail Chief Rajendra Sharma, out of the 480 inmates who had escaped, 293 are still unaccounted for, while 480 have returned. He stated, “The jail administration has repeatedly issued ultimatums, but many inmates are still at large. The police are actively searching for those who have not returned to the jail.”

According to Sharma, prior to the movement, Kaski jail held 773 inmates. Among them, 35 were housed in the women’s block, and 738 in the two blocks designated for men. However, when the protesters began vandalizing the jail, all the inmates exited at once. The search for those who have not returned has been intensified by the police. He added, “For those not in contact, the police have been instructed to act on any information received and proceed with locating and returning them.”

Similarly, at the Child Reform Home in Gyarjati, Pokhara, out of 109 children, 66 had returned by October 7. According to the Reform Home Chief, Dasi Paudel, despite notices being issued, several children who had escaped have still not returned.
