An interaction program on Clean Environment and Human Rights was held in Sukhad on June 5, 2026, organized by the Ghodaghodi Municipality-level Human Rights Group with the support of the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Sudurpashchim Province Office, Dhangadhi.
INSEC Province Coordinator Khadak Raj Joshi stated that every citizen has the right to live in a clean environment, emphasizing that environmental rights are a fundamental component of human rights. He further noted that local governments should formulate and implement policies and laws for environmental protection.
Mayor Khadak Bahadur Rawal of Ghodaghodi Municipality stated that the municipality has been formulating and implementing policies and laws for environmental protection and waste management. He further noted that the municipality has introduced a climate-friendly agricultural system.
Devi Prasad Khanal, President of the NGO Federation Sudurpashchim Province, stated that the municipality should take initiatives to maintain a clean environment by ensuring proper waste management, including the segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and by promoting cleanliness in the surrounding areas.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, tree plantation programs were conducted at Kantirajya Laxmi Secondary School, Pahalmanpur, and Dasharath Model Secondary School, Sodepani, in Ghodaghodi Municipality to mark the day.
Similarly, tree plantation programs were organized at Bhanu Secondary School in Laljhadi Rural Municipality–2 and Heaven Pearl World Academy English Boarding School under the slogan “Protect the Environment, Save Lives.” As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the Gauriganga Municipality-level Human Rights Group also submitted a five-point memorandum to Bhoj Bahadur Bam, Deputy Mayor of Gauriganga Municipality, calling for greater respect and protection of citizens’ right to a clean environment.
