INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi, provided financial support on April 9, to a woman victim of domestic violence to facilitate her access to legal proceedings.
The financial assistance was provided to Ramita Kumari Mahat, 30, of Chure Rural Municipality–5, Khanidanda, to help ease her access to the legal process.
Unable to endure the abuse inflicted by her husband, the victim has been residing at a safe shelter home operated by Saathi organization in Kanchanpur district. Due to her poor financial circumstances, she faced difficulties pursuing legal action. After she submitted an application to the Human Rights Help Desk operated by INSEC, the INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi, provided financial assistance amounting to Rs. 10,000.
After being subjected to a beating by her husband, Bal Bahadur Jagri, 34, of Chure Rural Municipality–5, Khanidanda, the victim, along with her two sons, has been staying in the safe shelter home to protect her life. She registered a case for partition along with divorce at the Kailali District Court on March 16.
INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Coordinator Khadak Raj Joshi stated that such financial support is being provided through the Human Rights Help Desk to ensure that victims are not deprived of justice due to financial constraints and to facilitate their access to justice.
