Sharmila Tamang, 34, from Farpuki, Gokulganga Rural Municipality–6, who was receiving treatment in the hospital after experiencing domestic violence, was provided Rs. 10,000 in financial assistance by the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) on April 5. The assistance was handed over to the victim at Manthali Hospital in the presence of INSEC representative Navaraj Pathik, Pandav Prasai, Coordinator of the Human Rights Protection Network, Ramechhap, and Dr. Keshav Dhami, Chief of Manthali Municipal Hospital.
Sharmila was severely beaten by her husband, Gopilal Tamang, 36, on the night of March 29. According to the victim, Sharmila, who had a love marriage in 2013, has been subjected to physical abuse by her husband since their marriage. Initially, Sharmila was treated at Tamakoshi Hospital, Manthali. After two days, treatment continued at Manthali Municipal Hospital, but due to dental issues, she was sent to Kathmandu for further treatment. Following dental treatment in Kathmandu, she resumed treatment at Manthali Hospital from April 4, 2026.
She is accompanied by her daughter, Gunjan Tamang, 12, and son, Sujal Tamang, 7. Her husband was arrested by the police on March 31 on charges of domestic violence. Meanwhile, Pandav Prasai, Coordinator of the Human Rights Protection Network, Ramechhap, expressed a commitment to take necessary measures to ensure justice for the victim. The victim stated that she had been repeatedly tortured and that attempts were made to defame her character even after the beating.
