On the initiative of INSEC Koshi Province Office, Biratnagar, an FIR has been registered against a father who subjected a seven-year-old boy with multiple disabilities to cruel treatment, after which INSEC has provided financial assistance for the child’s treatment and legal support.
Following the filing of a complaint against the accused father at the Area Police Office, Rani, on June 5 on the initiative of INSEC, a financial assistance of Rs. 7,500 was provided on June 15 for the child’s treatment, according to INSEC Koshi Province Coordinator Manohar Kumar Pokharel.
The financial assistance was provided to the child’s grandmother, Savitri Devi Mochi, for the treatment of her grandson and for legal support. Due to an extremely weak economic condition and lack of funds for the child’s treatment and legal process, the National Federation of the Disabled, Koshi Province, had submitted a request to INSEC for assistance on June 9.
Based on the request, INSEC provided the financial assistance, said Federation of the Disabled Koshi Province Secretary Gopalman Thapa.
With the initiative of INSEC, along with the registration of the complaint against the accused father, the police arrested him for investigation on June 4, and are currently investigating the case.
In coordination with the National Federation of the Disabled, Koshi Province, and INSEC, the child was rescued on Jestha 21 and provided initial treatment at the emergency department of Koshi Hospital on the same day. On the same day, the child was admitted to the hospital’s nutrition department for nutritional support and treatment.
After the hospital discharged the child on June 9, he has been kept at Manav Sewa Ashram, Biratnagar, since the same day, with the initiative of INSEC.
Dinesh Ram, 40, of the Hansa Bihani Tole squatter settlement in Ward No. 14 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, had been subjecting his seven-year-old son with disabilities to cruel treatment.
The seven-year-old boy was born unable to see, hear, or walk. The physically helpless child had been subjected to repeated abuse by his father, Dinesh Ram. The child’s grandmother, Savitri Devi Mochi, stated that the child’s mother had remarried by her own choice and left, and that the father had become addicted to intoxicants, leading to frequent beatings of the child.
The child’s father, Dinesh, reportedly used narcotics and subjected his son to physical abuse as well as biting various parts of his body, causing inhumane treatment.
After returning home in the evening following daily wage labour and consuming narcotics, he would inflict cruel treatment on his son. Upon receiving information about the incident, INSEC registered a complaint against the accused at the Area Police Office, Rani, on June 5
