The meeting of the Environmental Human Rights Network was held in Janakpurdham on October 31, 2025, organized by Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) Madhesh Province with financial support from DCA.
Participants of the meeting emphasized the need to make concerned authorities more accountable and responsive in ensuring environmental rights.
They also stressed the importance of conducting field studies and monitoring related to waste management and Chure conservation, drawing the attention of provincial and local governments to guarantee citizens’ environmental rights.

Raju Paswan, the INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator, emphasized that the government must formulate and implement laws and policies to ensure the environmental rights of citizens.
He stated that it is now time for environmental human rights defenders to unite and draw the attention of concerned authorities to prevent damage caused by environmental pollution and degradation.
Environmental activist Sunil Yadav highlighted the need for interactive discussions between local governments, relevant agencies, and human rights defenders active in the environmental sector for effective conservation of the Chure region.
He further suggested that INSEC should help take environmental rights issues to the grassroots level and raise awareness among rural citizens.
Dipu Thakur, Chairperson of the Earth Clean Green Foundation, expressed concern over the haphazard waste dumping practices of the Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City. He stressed that the Mayor should be approached with a memorandum to make the municipality accountable for proper waste management.
