Police arrested Sukumaya Tamang of Indrawati Rural Municipality-9, Sindhupalchowk, and Pramod Tamang, 31, of the same municipality-4, on March 30 on charges of allegedly forcing a 26-year-old woman into prostitution.
Based on a complaint that the victim was lured, threatened, and forced into prostitution through Ashok Khajaghar and Manjushree Khajaghar operating in the Manmaiju area of Kathmandu, a team deployed from the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau arrested them. Police stated that an investigation is underway after obtaining a seven-day remand extension from the Kathmandu District Court on charges related to human trafficking and transportation.
