In Koshi Province, due to heavy rainfall following the reactivation of the Monsoon on October 4 and 5, which entered on May 30, 2025, the district has suffered damages exceeding Rs. 11.81 billion.
The District Administration Office reported that the total damage to various roads, bridges, buildings, drinking water, irrigation, livestock, and agricultural sectors amounts to Rs. 11,817,985,703.
According to the preliminary assessment collected from 11 relevant sectoral offices, including the Road Division, Infrastructure Development Office, Nepal Electricity Authority, and the Water Resources and Irrigation Division, Chief District Officer Sunita Nepal stated that natural disasters caused more than Rs. 11 billion in losses in the district.
Within the Road Division, landslides in 11 different projects caused losses of NPR 696,450,000. Under the Infrastructure Development Office, 62 roads suffered damage worth Rs. 234,650,000, 25 bridges Rs. 85,000,000, and 6 buildings Rs. 4,000,000.
According to the District Administration, the Nepal Electricity Authority experienced damages worth Rs. 24,735,952 to HT lines, LT lines, and transformers across five projects. Similarly, under the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division, 16 river control projects suffered damages of Rs. 13,466,900, 5 landslide control projects Rs. 17,422,000, and 72 irrigation projects Rs. 17,715,900.
Furthermore, under the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Center, 2,520 livestock sustained damages worth Rs. 23,576,000, and 244 barns and ponds suffered Rs. 19,754,000 in damages. Under the Drinking Water and Sanitation Management Department, Dhankuta Field Unit Office, 29 drinking water projects were damaged worth Rs. 28,750,000, while the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, Bhadrapur, Jhapa reported damages worth Rs. 28,010,000 across 223 projects.
Likewise, under the Agriculture Knowledge Center, 3,409 farmers incurred losses worth Rs. 27,499,750 for food and cash crops over 892.32 hectares, and under the National Tea and Coffee Development Board’s Tea Expansion Program, 25 tea gardens suffered damages worth Rs. 4,755,000.
Under Nepal Telecom, damages to 10 optical fiber and cable lines amounted to Rs. 508,000, and under the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Project, Gainde Jhapa, 31 projects were damaged by landslides worth Rs. 329,016,000.
