The District Election Office, Banke informed that a total of 6,384 people registered their names in the voter list of Banke district from September 27 to November 10 for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, according to District Election Officer Tek Bahadur Shahi.
Anganiya Tharu of Kohalpur Municipality-2, Muktipur, said that since the voter registration and photo collection work in the district was conducted only from Nepalgunj, it caused difficulties for people living in distant areas of the district. Avocate Ram Kumar Dixit of Narainapur Rural Municipality-5 said that since the voter list was not collected in all eight local levels of Banke district, many eligible citizens might be deprived of their voting rights, and therefore, the state should take timely responsibility.
As of November 10, the total number of voters in Banke, including both new and previously registered voters, has reached 340,318.
