Police have arrested two individuals on charges of beating Birendra Basnet, 43, of Ward No. 1, Haldar Chowk, Damak Municipality.
Police arrested Shiva Sah, 55 of Ward No. 9, Damak Municipality, and Duren Rai, 50, of Ward No. 4, Kamal Rural Municipality from Damak on April 20 on charges of beating Basnet, a central committee member of the Nepal Communist Party, on April 20.
The police have stated that Deepak Dangol, 47, of Ward No. 9, Damak Municipality, and Jivan Koyu Rai, 38, of Ward No. 4, Kamal Rural Municipality, who were also allegedly involved in the beating, are absconding.
According to the victim, Basnet, he was called to the kitchen of the Gorkha Department Store located in Ward No. 9, Damak Municipality, where he was beaten by four individuals. The injured victim received treatment at Damak Hospital on Baisakh 7 (April 20).
The victim had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Damak, on April 20, against the four individuals involved in the act of beating.
Based on the victim’s complaint, two individuals have been arrested for further investigation, police said.
Preliminary investigations by the police have indicated that the act was linked to a share dispute at Saptashree Academy located in Ward No. 9, Damak Municipality.
The police stated that Basnet, who was a shareholder and involved in the school, had a share dispute with its then principal, Deepak Dangol.
