Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 13 of Chaurjahari Municipality, Shrikrishna Sharma, 42, was beaten on April 17 by Sudip Rokaya, 25, of the same ward.
According to DSP Bed Bahadur Poudel, chief of the District Police Office, the attack on Chairperson Sharma took place on the morning of April 17. He stated that the incident occurred while Sudip Rokaya of Ratamata Tole in the same ward was engaged in a dispute with his wife, Dammari Rokaya, and Chairperson Sharma had gone to mediate the conflict.
DSP Poudel stated that during the process of counseling and trying to resolve the dispute, Sudip Rokaya physically attacked the Ward Chairperson. Police reported that Chairperson Sharma sustained an injury to his waist due to the beating. He received treatment at Chaurjahari Hospital on April 17.
According to locals, the incident occurred when Rokaya was physically assaulting his wife, dragging and beating her, and Chairperson Sharma was attacked while attempting to intervene.
Police stated that Rokaya was arrested on April 17 by the Area Police Office, Chaurjahari, and further legal action has been initiated.
