An office assistant working at Siraha Municipality, Ramsharan Yadav, 48, from Ward No. 15 of the same municipality, was allegedly assaulted by the Mayor, Dr. Navinkumar Yadav, on April 6.
According to the victim, although Yadav’s official position is in Siraha Municipality–20, he has been working for eight years in the Health Section of Siraha Municipality. On April 6, at 9 AM, when he tried to report to the office, a dispute arose as the Mayor allegedly instructed him to mark attendance at his designated position instead, which led to the assault. Relatives stated that Yadav, injured from the beating, received initial treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Siraha and was referred to Biratnagar for further treatment.
In protest of the incident, the employees working at the municipality submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer on the same day, along with a complaint requesting action against the Mayor for misconduct. Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel stated that the complaint had been forwarded to the District Police Office to proceed with the investigation.
