The conflict victims raised question about the disappearance of Truth and Reconciliation Commission which was formed to provide justice to the victims.
The victim’s complained about the disappearance of TRC itself during an interaction program held in Phidim on April 8. Conflict victim Narayan Koirala of Yangwarak village council-4 complained of not getting justice even after the formation of TRC for such a long time. He accused commission of not being able to work properly. He further asked commission ” Where have been commission disappeared for such a long time?”.
He added-” Such apathetic work by commission has added extra pain to the victims. Their forgotten pain has been revived.” Homa Devi Adhikari of the same village council said that victims do not believe of getting justice. Similarly, Tika Maya Rai of Phidim Municipality accused commission of not being sincere to the victim. The commission’s member Madhavi Bhatta said that the commission has failed to work properly due to the dispute between the officials.
The tenure of the commission is only for 10 months more. A total of 396 complaints regarding armed conflict were registered in Panchthar through local peace committee. There are 6,291 complaints lodged from province number 1 and 58,000 nationwide.
