Human Rights Help Desk Meeting Concluded

A Human Rights Assistance Desk meeting was held on July 1, 2026, under the chairmanship of Narayan Subedi, Coordinator of INSEC Karnali Province, and organized by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC).

During the meeting, discussions were held on applications submitted by victims and a proposal regarding the effectiveness of the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Fund. Among the three applications received by the Human Rights Assistance Desk, it was decided that INSEC would recommend a girl survivor of sexual violence from Bheriganga Municipality to a non-governmental organization in Lalitpur to support her education. INSEC also decided to provide Rs. 6,500 to cover her transportation expenses. Regarding the other two applications, it was decided to coordinate with the relevant authorities as necessary.Similarly, it was decided to hold discussions with relevant stakeholders within June/July to improve the effectiveness of the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Fund at the local level and enhance survivors’ access to it, according to Narayan Subedi, Coordinator of INSEC Karnali Province.

The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of the Karnali Province Office of the National Human Rights Commission, the High Bar Association, Surkhet, FEDO, Aawaj, and the One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC).
