Accused Arrested in Wife’s Killing

The District Police Office arrested Beshraj Bhandari, 66, on July 1, on the charges of killing his wife, Humkala Bhandari, 60 of Gantari, Dhurkot Rural Municipality-5.

Bhandari’s wife died after being electrocuted by an electric current that had been supplied to a field to control wild animals (wild boars), according to DSP Birendra Bir Bishwakarma of the Gulmi District Police Office. Bhandari had run electricity from a power pole to a field located about 150 metres from his house to protect crops from wild animals. Injured Bhandari was taken to Gulmi District Hospital in Tamghas for treatment, where doctors pronounced her dead on July 2 during treatment, Bishwakarma said. Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.

The post-mortem examination was conducted at Gulmi Hospital, Tamghas, on July 2.
