Four women were arrested on July 1, 2026, on charges of tying up and assaulting four children after accusing them of stealing a mobile phone in Tangiya Settlement, Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-16. Those arrested are Mina Ranjan Magar, 62, Pabi Kumari Ale Magar, 32, Rani Maya Moktan, 30, and Nirmala Baiwa, 40, all residents of the same locality.
According to DSP Min Bahadur Ghale of the District Police Office, the accused tied the children with ropes to the base of a banyan tree at a public resting place and beat and tortured them on June 30, 2026, after accusing them of stealing a mobile phone. Police said a case has been registered against them under the offence of crimes against children, and an investigation is underway after obtaining a five-day remand from the District Court.
