Four Houses Destroyed in Matehiya Fire, Causing Millions in Losses and Affecting Local Residents

Four houses were destroyed in a devastating fire that broke out in Matehiya village, Ward No. 5 of Narainapur Rural Municipality, Banke. The fire, which started suddenly at around 2:00 a.m. on June 25, caused property damage worth millions of rupees, leaving the affected families in a difficult situation.

The fire reportedly started at the house of local resident Mayaram Teli and quickly spread out of control, destroying four mud houses, kitchens, stored food grains, three tailoring machines, and two solar power units. According to Police Inspector Suresh Koirala of the Area Police Office, Bhagwanpur, the preliminary estimate indicates that the fire caused property damage worth millions of rupees.

Police Inspector Koirala said that although the houses of Mayaram Teli, Baishidhar Teli, and Harish Yadav could not be saved, no human casualties occurred as people were evacuated in time. Local residents and police worked together to move people to safety immediately after the fire broke out.

The fire also destroyed books, notebooks, and school uniforms kept in the houses, leaving local students in difficulty. Krishna Chandra Maurya, Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 5 of Narainapur Rural Municipality, said that the complete educational materials of six students studying at Mahendra Secondary School, Matehiya, were destroyed, putting their education at risk.

Immediately after the incident, Narainapur Rural Municipality provided the affected families with essential food items and other basic relief supplies. The municipality stated that a team, including the head of its Disaster Management Section, visited the site and provided immediate relief to the affected families. It also said that coordination has been established with the District Disaster Management Committee to arrange additional long-term relief and support.
