Three households have been displaced in Sankhuwasabha due to landslides triggered by continuous rainfall. The incidents occurred in Khandbari Municipality and Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality.
According to Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi, Information Officer at the District Police Office, the landslide that occurred on June 20 in Dhupu of Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality–1 displaced the four-member family of Dhan Bahadur Bishwakarma and the four-member family of Shantiram Pokharel.
Police Inspector Rajbanshi said that the six-member family of Yar Bahadur Tamang of Khandbari Municipality–6, Khanidanda, was also displaced due to the risk of landslides.
The landslide damaged the rear section of Bishwakarma’s two-storey house. Rajbanshi added that Pokharel’s house in the same area is also at high risk. As further landslides could occur and cause additional damage to both houses, the families were relocated to safer locations in coordination with local authorities.
The displaced families are currently taking shelter in neighboring houses.
A police team deployed from the Dhupu Police Post has been assisting in relocating displaced and at-risk families to safer places. The District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, stated that coordination is underway with elected representatives and government agencies to provide relief support to the affected families.
