Two Boys Returning from School Killed in Rain-Induced Flood

Two boys from Naubahini Rural Municipality–5 in Pyuthan have died after being swept away by a flash flood caused by continuous rainfall.

According to Police Inspector Hari Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Pyuthan, the body of 6-year-old Bimal Khatri was recovered on June 16, while the body of Milan Khatri, 11 was found on the morning of June 17, about one kilometer downstream from the incident site.

Both deceased brothers were students at Janata Primary School in Kante, Naubahini Rural Municipality–5. Police said they were swept away by a sudden flood at Jogipandhera while returning home from school after classes had ended.

Bimal Khatri was studying in Grade 1, while Milan Khatri was studying in Grade 3. Following the incident, local residents, police personnel, and other concerned stakeholders carried out search operations.
