Police arrested Navaraj Adhikari, 22, a resident of Gaur Municipality–7 in Rautahat District, on May 29, 2026, from Hospital Chowk in Gaur on charges of attempting to kidnap an eight-year-old boy from Sonama Rural Municipality–3.
According to police, three unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle with an undisclosed registration number allegedly attempted to abduct the child by forcibly placing him on the motorcycle. When the boy began shouting, local residents tried to stop the motorcycle, prompting the suspects to abandon the child at the scene and flee.
The District Police Office of Mahottari stated that a kidnapping case has been registered against Adhikari, and further investigation is underway after obtaining a remand extension from the Mahottari District Court.
DSP Panchalal Gole said that an intensive search operation is ongoing to locate and apprehend the other suspects involved in the incident.
