The Sarlahi District Court has sentenced Binod Kumar Mahato, 18, of Barahathawa Municipality–9 to three years in jail for marrying a 17-year-old girl in a child marriage case.
According to Registrar Gyan Bahadur Khatri, the bench of Judge Pushparaj Thapaliya on May 26, 2026, found the accused guilty of child marriage and handed down a three-year sentence.
The victim’s side had filed a case against Mahato at the Sarlahi District Court in Malangawa on Poush 28, 2082 BS, alleging that the accused had entered into a child marriage with the girl on December 17, 2025.
