Bagmati Province Policy and Program: 1,000 Houses for the Poor

The Bagmati Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota, on May 26, presented an 83-point policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 in the Provincial Assembly meeting.

The provincial government has announced the construction of at least 1,000 safe housing units for landless, squatters, Dalits, and economically disadvantaged families. Similarly, the integrated housing program for Chepang, Bote, Majhi, and Thami communities will be continued.

Likewise, the goal has been set to increase production through the modernization, mechanization, and commercialization of the agriculture sector.

The government has stated that it has prioritized infrastructure development, good governance, production, employment, digital services, agricultural modernization, health, education, and social justice under the goal of “Happy Citizens, Prosperous Bagmati.”

In the policy and program, it is mentioned that the ‘Bagmati Province Chief Minister Innovation Program’ will be operated with the aim of making the provincial government technology-friendly and citizen-friendly.

Public services will be digitized, and a ‘Hello CM Desk’ will be established for grievance management. Under structural reforms, the number of ministries will be reduced to eight, and an online tracking and tracing system for ongoing provincial projects will be implemented, along with the gradual digitization of the administrative system.

CCTV cameras will be installed in public places to develop a digital crime tracking system. Awareness campaigns will be conducted at the community level to control cybercrime, drug abuse, and human trafficking. In disaster management, under the concept of “investment in disaster preparedness for minimizing loss of life and property,” policies have been adopted to strengthen disaster warehouses, early warning systems, and emergency operation centers, as informed by Provincial Chief Devkota.

Programs targeting women and youth will also be conducted under the title “Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Employment: Foundation of a Prosperous Province.” Youth entrepreneurship will be encouraged through concessional loans, interest subsidies, and a startup ecosystem.
