The INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi, provided financial assistance on May 22 to support a 17-year-old girl with intellectual disability from Ghodaghodi Municipality–12, Khot, so that she can proceed with legal action in a rape case.
The financial support was provided to facilitate access to justice for the victim, whose family is in a poor economic condition and was facing difficulties pursuing legal proceedings. Following an application submitted by the victim’s mother to INSEC’s Human Rights Help Desk, INSEC’s Sudurpaschim Province Office provided Rs. 10,000 in financial assistance.
The victim’s family had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Sukhad, on May 6, alleging that Tek Bahadur Chaudhary, 35, of Ghodaghodi Municipality–12, Khot, raped the victim on May 5, when she was alone at home.
INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Coordinator Khadak Raj Joshi stated that financial assistance is being provided through the Human Rights Help Desk to ensure that victims are not deprived of justice due to financial constraints and to improve their access to legal processes.
