Assistive Devices Distributed to Persons with Disabilities

Assistive devices have been distributed to 21 persons with disabilities in Aiselukharka Rural Municipality to support easier daily living. The distributed materials include wheelchairs for four individuals, toilet chairs for ten individuals, elbow crutches for two individuals, a hearing aid for one individual, modified shoes for another individual, and artificial hands for two individuals.

Program Coordinator Bhakta Bahadur Rai informed RSS that the assistive devices were purchased and distributed through a budget allocation of Rs. 300,000 under the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program being implemented in the rural municipality.

The Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program is being operated in Aiselukharka Rural Municipality through a joint partnership between the rural municipality, the Ministry of Social Development under the Koshi Provincial Government, and Karuna Foundation. Rural Municipality Chairperson Girendra Bahadur Rai distributed the materials during a program organized on Thursday at the rural municipality office in Aiselukharka Bazaar. According to the office, there are 277 persons with disabilities in the rural municipality.
